I am reasonably upset that I watch 162+ games a year and since our apartment complex changed their rules and ripped our satellite down off the roof we won’t be able to watch the World Series. I feel deflated!
In another note….. I am very excited about Brandon coming back this year even with all the haters out there.
After being insanely busy these past few weeks, I finally had time to look over this past weekends games against the Indians & UGH…..
Friday, 7/16/10 - Scherzer would only go 5IP giving up 4ER and 5BB. Things did not start well!
Saturday, 7/17/10 Game 1 - Verlander, although giving a “quality start,” would not look as sharp as usual. Going 6IP giving up 3ER, 5BB while striking out 9. The middle of the line up would go 0-9 with 3BB. It looked like for a while this game was manageable until Phil Coke gave up what would be the game winner in bottom of the 7th. I can’t even be upset at that since he has been amazing all year. Our bats however could have been a little more patient and not had the attitude that winning a 4 game series was going to be easy.
Saturday, 7/17/10 Game 2 - Then came game 2 on Saturday where everyone was holding their breath as Porcello was going to take the mound. Little did we know that he was going to go 8IP with 0BB, 1ER & 6K. However that didn’t matter since the bats went 1-11 with RISP. AWESOME!!! After the rain delay the Indians would come back to score in the bottom of the 11th to take the win. All be it they may have won off some bad calls…. they still won!
Sunday, 7/18/10 - What seemed like a for sure win, because no team gets swept in a 4 game series…. right? WRONG! The Tigers go on to get swept in a four game series against a team that started the series 32-54. Enough said about this game.
I have always been a total optimist when it game to losing games however this one actually hurt. It seemed as though they forgot what they were all playing for before the All-Star break. The team has proven that they can win but mostly only at home. We can beat some of the best teams in baseball at home but we can’t beat the worst teams when we are on the road. Everyone can say that we should trade, buy, sell, etc. but I don’t think that is our problem. Our team seems to fall apart once outside the gates of Comerica Park.
Is there a solution? Can the Tigers regain control of themselves and compete all the way to October? Here’s to looking up and hoping for a great home stand before we hit the unbearable road again.

I warn everyone now that I have a weakness for great Tigers baseball pictures so most of the pictures I use will almost always be from allikazoo. Not because I am sucking up or trying to give her a big ego but just because she flat out takes better pictures then some of the others.
I may have a problem but that’s okay, I love great Tigers Baseball pictures!! :)
allikazoo: This was a GREAT catch. So happy to see him healthy!!
This is about the only good thing about today’s game.

Tigers Win 6-5!
That’s the good news! Along with RBI doubles by LAIRD (1), GUILLEN 2 (5), and JACKSON (4). I also am excited to see the Tigers not giving up and playing all 9 innings no matter what the score. This can’t win us the division all by itself but it will put us much, much closer. Not only that but it is helping us beat under .500 teams which was an issue for the Tigers last year.
Here is what I am concerned about…..
* Will Willis survive the season or return to old form? I feel like he has pitched much better then in the past but still has a long way to go. Going 5.0 innings and giving up 9 hits, 4 ER, 3 BB, 3 K and 2 HR’s doesn’t exactly scream “I am all better now.” I am cheering for him as much as the next girl/guy but I have my doubts. I believe that if he can get his command more consistent then he might make it to 30 starts. Otherwise I feel Bonine will be starting sooner then we think. I know the Tigers spent more on Willis than the Padre’s spent on their entire infield but that doesn’t mean they can let him fall apart all over again. I am truly rooting for Willis to have a bounce back year, I just have my concerns.
* Will Damon come around? I realize that I am talking about the great Damon but seeing some of the “sluggers” that the Tigers have acquired over the past couple years I feel like I am justified in asking. He has had some great PA’s and drawn some clutch BB however it still leaves me asking if there will be more than just that, soon!

I am going to give this whole thing a try and see how it goes!
